Every bike we sell is rebuilt to a higher standard—so it arrives ready to ride like new.

The highest standard of buying bikes.

Most shops will take in whatever walks through the door. We will not. Traveling Ground Certified starts with what we buy: no heavily used bikes, and no bikes with any carbon damage.

From there, every Certified bike is stripped, inspected, cleaned, and rebuilt in our Denver shop until it meets our standard—not just “good enough to list.”

What we do to every Certified bike

These checks and services are built into our process. Rough bearings get replaced. Worn drivetrain parts get replaced. Suspension and droppers that are not smooth get professionally serviced.

Bolts, bearings & fitment

We verify the mechanical foundation of every bike before anything else.

  • Check all bolts for correct tension
  • Check all wheel bearings — if they are rough, we replace them
  • Check all frame bearings on mountain bikes — if they are rough, we replace them
  • Check the bottom bracket — if bearings are rough, we replace it
  • Check the headset — if it is rough, we replace it

Suspension & dropper

If it does not perform smoothly, it comes off the bike and gets professionally serviced.

  • Check suspension — if front or rear needs service, we remove it and professionally service the suspension
  • Check dropper post — if it does not go up and down smoothly, we remove it and professionally service the dropper

Wheels, tires & spokes

Rolling stock gets cleaned, tensioned, sealed, and trued.

  • All tubeless tires get a fresh seal and top-off of tubeless sealant
  • Spoke tension is checked and adjusted until it is perfect
  • Once wheels are clean, we put them in the truing stand and make sure both wheels are true

Drivetrain & braking

Light wear is fine. More than lightly used means new parts.

  • Check chain wear — if more than lightly used, we replace it with a new chain
  • Check cassette wear — if more than lightly used, we replace it with a new cassette
  • Brake pad life — if more than lightly used, we replace them with new pads
  • We bleed both the front and rear brakes
  • We tune the shifting until it is perfect, and replace cables when needed

Deep clean

Certified means genuinely clean — not wiped down in place.

  • We strip the bike down to the frame and give it a professional wash
  • We remove the wheels and clean and regrease them
  • We remove the chain and degrease and clean it
  • We remove the cassette and degrease and clean it

Finish details & replacements

Contact points and broken parts are handled to the same standard.

  • Road bikes get new bar tape
  • Mountain bikes with used grips get new grips
  • If there are ANY broken parts, we replace them with new ones — no matter what they are
